Sinead and Kevin: Real Bride Story

Kevin and I met over 20 years ago in a beautiful seaside town called Youghal in Co Cork, which is where we are both from. I would not change a thing about our relationship despite the 19-year age gap between us. We have had two beautiful children together and even though we have had some ups and downs, we wouldn’t want it any other way.

We were engaged for over 13 years and in 2020 we decided that it was time to get married and our kids were a great age to join in the celebrations as well. We originally booked our wedding for September 2021 in the Walter Raleigh Hotel in Youghal but unfortunately just like many others, we decided to postpone due to covid regulations. This was very disheartening considering all the planning that goes with a wedding. We rebooked it for spring 2022 for the same venue and thankfully enough it all went ahead, and we had the best day ever.

My dress was Robyn; a stunning laced ballgown, which fitted me perfectly. I just fell in love with the dress at first sight, and knew it was the one for me. It was beautiful with lace floral designs throughout the dress, which had tiny little diamonds embedded, giving it a gorgeous shimmer. I loved all the little details on the train and the striking belt detail which sinched in my waist and gave me a beautiful hourglass figure.

I also added lace sleeves which were made from the extra train that came with the dress. I felt that this gave my dress a little bit of a personal touch and I absolutely loved them.

nnbnb jkj,

Both my hair and makeup artis were incredible and made me feel so beautiful for my special day. I went for a backcombed vintage look with a low bun up style. Simple and elegant to compliment my detailed dress.

Our bridal party was bridesmaid Hannah, my daughter and our son Alfie was junior groomsman. Kevin’s brother Thomas was our other groomsman who also gave me away on the day. And Kevin's son Jason was Kevin’s best man.

We decided that we wanted to have a civil ceremony. Our register was an absolutely amazing lady and made our ceremony feel so personal and special. Our venue, the Walter Raleigh Hotel was amazing on the day from the incredible staff to the meal, to the layout for the ceremony. Even the beautiful view of the Youghal Harbour which is directly across the road from the hotel was stunning.

It was just so lovely when the doors opened to reveal me walking down the aisle to my new husband. Seeing all our loved ones together in the same room after a very challenging 2 years with covid, was one of the best feelings ever. It really was a magical day

Our beautiful 2-tiered wedding cake was iced with in ivory and detailed with iced seashells and the little mermaid topper. We went for this themed cake in memory of Kevin's late daughter Dayna who sadly passed away and was a huge, little mermaid fan. My own late father and Kevin's dad were also remembered fondly on the day, with our beautiful memorial table, which had a grey twinkling 3 feather candle that were lit all day in their memory.

The band we had for our wedding were fantastic. They played a fabulous mix of music from ACDC to an old-time waltz, and they followed with their own DJ who continued the great music late into the night. Our first song was Inspiration by Chicago, which was magical and was a very special moment for us.

Special thanks so our photographer Eddie Hennessy from Hennessy photography Ltd.
