Rebecca & Rob: Real Bride Story

How did you personalise your day?

My bridesmaids wore a pale pastel pink, so I picked this up in my flowers, stationary, my wedding favours _pink and white M_Ms with our photo printed on them. I didn't have a theme so to speak, more just keeping in mind the Georgian style house and so my choices weren't overly modern, more of a classic take.

What was most important for you to have at your wedding?

My husband to be! Jokes aside, having all our family and friends there to share our day was so special and made our day so memorable.

Did you have any idea of what style or shape of dress you were looking for?

I knew I wanted an illusion front but also an interesting back as I knew I'd be photographed from multiple angles. For my body shape, fitted on the top and slightly flared was what I wanted and in terms of style, something very soft looking and not rigid. With how long I was going to be in my dress I wanted to enjoy wearing it all day, especially in the summer, so comfort was also an element to consider.

Did you try a lot of dresses on before you found the ONE?

Funnily enough my dress was the first dress I tried on. But I didn't think I was that lucky to find the ONE on my first try. So, I tried about 6 or 7 more dresses on but every dress I tried on was always being compared to the first dress. After a while it was becoming obvious that was always the one for me.

Where did you buy your dress from?

I bought my dress from House of Bellas Bridal in Newcastle. The girls were so lovely and so helpful and made the whole experience enjoyable.

What dress did you end up choosing?

I chose the Jessie dress, style number 18061. It was a lace and crepe sleeveless gown with the illusion neckline I wanted with a beaded tie back belt. It was very fitted at the waist and flared out with a short train.

Who went with you to try on dresses?

My mum came with me to all my dress appointments and when I narrowed it down to the one I took along my sister _maid of honour and my future mother-in-law to gage their reaction. It was a lovely opportunity for them to see the dress before the big day.

Anything else that you would like to share about your day or dress?

Both my husband, itstill sounds so surreal saying that, and I still talk now about how the day was the best day of our lives. Everything went perfectly. I still remember the feeling of putting my dress on with all the accessories, my hair and make-up all done and making my way to the venue. I felt so happy and I know the dress played a big role in that feeling.

Any tips for future brides?

If you have a budget in mind for dresses, inform the bridal shop of this and don't get them to show you any dresses that fall outside of this. Nothing worse than falling in love with a dress that's way out of the budget as nothing will feel good
