Rebecca: Real Bride Story

Tell us about your special day

“We got married in June at Chateau de Jalesnes, in the Lorie Valley, France. The most important thing for us was to have their own vows. There were lots of tears and we wanted our closest friends and family there to witness the ceremony. The whole day was personalised using different ideas from all over. I liked the ideas of the big round balloons and cocktail jars for cocktails in the garden. I can't say there was a particular theme but we had pastel pinks and purples, sparklers and a well-stocked bar.”

When it came to her fabulous wedding dress the only thing Rebecca knew was that she didn’t want anything too big. She went into the whole experience with an opened mind, which we think is key! We hear so many stories of brides that end up choosing a style they never expected to fall in love with. Having tried on about 20 dresses, the retailer in the shop pulled out a wild card and returned with Rebecca’s dress.

“I didn’t want to take it off! I felt overwhelmed with joy when I put it on and after trying on so many, I didn’t think a dress could make me feel so good. Each time I came back for fittings I felt the same but better each time!

Rebecca found her dress at Amore Bridal in Ongar, saying she went to other stores after but nothing compared to the customer service and none of them had her dress, our Nicolette gown.

“Buying my dress was one of the best experiences of the whole event. Each visit to the shop was made into an occasion with bubbles. My mum and I would go for lunch after and talk non-stop about the dress. Finding the suits and bridesmaids dresses were also made to feel like an event, not just a hassle or ticking off the list. Although my day was so special the build-up and preparations were all part of the overall experience, that only you and your husband get to experience fully. Everyone else only gets a snippet of the experience, this is what is so special about weddings for the bride and groom!!

“My tip for any future bride is to treasure every moment and make sure all guests know to send you all their captured memories too, even those that don't star you and your hubby.”
