Tell us about your big day…
We got married at Killearn Village Hall which is a beautiful traditional place with fantastic views. It is close to Loch Lomond and there were sheep all around in the fields. We were lucky enough to be able to have an outdoor ceremony even though it was cloudy, but this made for some very dramatic photos! We had a lovely meal with tapas style starter and our rose gold cake was made by a friend. I wore flowers in my hair and didn’t stop smiling all day.
Tell us about the dress…
I’d only tried dresses on in one other shop in Glasgow and then went locally to Olivia Cameron’s where I found my dress, the “Jodie” from the Victoria Jane Collection. I knew I wanted something simple that would be easy to move around in, knowing that I still had to play mum on my wedding day. I originally tried on the tea length version of “Jodie” and loved the shape and the off the shoulder neck line _and the pockets! but tea length just didn’t’t do it for me. Many people had already said that’s what they imagined I’d pick so Fiona advised “well don’t give them it!” and that’s when I tried on the full length and absolutely fell in love. I knew with having such a classic looking dress I wanted to put my own stamp on it and had already seen a few capes that inspired the final look. Fate fell in my favour when another bride from the same store also had also picked a Ronald Joyce dress but didn’t want the train that came with it. After hearing the way I’d described my ideal cape the girls kept it aside for me.
Sounds amazing! Tell us about how you personalized your big day…
Our wedding was very unique to us. The venue was a blank canvas so putting our own stamp on it was very easy. There were lots of personal touches such as the minister was a friend of ours, the acoustic duo we picked also played at my brother-in-laws wedding the previous year, our DJ was a good friend from the bar we both work in _and originally met but my favourite thing was our arch which was built and engraved by my maid of honors’ dad and brother which now resides in our garden!
Any tips for future brides?
My one tip for future brides is to take 10 minutes away just the two of you, if we could go back we’d do it as soon as we walked down the aisle!
