Laura & Jon: Real Bride Story

Laura _ Jon: Real Bride Story

How did you personalise your day?

Our main theme was in keeping with the countryside setting. The theme was in fitting with the location and venue which was a barn in the Cotswolds. We had a lot of whites and greenery to ensure a lovely rustic feel. We also had a gin theme with a gin table plan with different bottles on the tables. We wanted it to look very pretty and for people to feel relaxed, rather than formal and able to kick back and party. Let’s be honest anything else in that sort of venue would have looked out of place, so we kept it classic and simple. With the date of the wedding it was still cool, so it still allowed us to roast on open fires outside in the evening which created a lovely atmosphere. We also had a photo booth for a bit of fun. For us it was important to create the right atmosphere for people to enjoy themselves.

What was the most important thing for you to have at your wedding?

My husband, family and then friends...in that order.

Did you have any idea of what style or shape of dress you were looking for?

I knew that I wanted something with a strong cut but relatively streamlined. Nothing too big or fussy. I wasn’t too keen on lots of lace or anything like that.

Did you try a lot of dresses on before you found the ONE?

The Amanda dress, was in the first shop I went to. I didn’t trust myself that I could possibly know having barely tried any other dresses on. So, I proceeded to four other shops and tried more dresses on. I should’ve trusted my gut as I promptly went right back to get the first one! My mum and sister were with me when I found my perfect dress and I took my bridesmaids to the others. I loved the Amanda dress from the first minute I put it on. The cut, fabric and fit was perfect. It really made me feel a million dollars and hopefully look it! My mum and sister both immediately loved it too so I must say it was quite an easy decision.

Any tips for future brides?

Don’t overthink it, don’t overcomplicate it. Remember what suits you and is comfortable for a day of partying when choosing a dress. Admittedly I tripped over mine on the first dance so should have worn it a bit before the big day. Remember your friends and family are all there so make it a day for them to remember, a thank you for being there goes a long way but you probably don’t need to go overboard. Take a look at Pinterest and the wedding magazines and websites and all will give you ideas and something you hadn’t even thought about!
