Emily and Ian: Real bride Story

Ian and I met back in 2009, on a night out on the town. Ian then after 12 years together proposed to me in May 2021 at our home, after a day out on the Broads, waiting for a takeaway!

When it came to planning our wedding, I really enjoyed it, but the last month was really hectic as everything was coming together. But if I could, I would definitely love to do it again. We did have a bit of a theme in mind. We knew that we wanted a traditional English wedding, in the country. We also always knew we wanted to get married in our local church as we have a lot of family links and happy memories in the parish. We loved the Barn at Woodlands because it felt very relaxed, and you could decorate it as you wanted! The gardens and farm around it are very typical of where we live in Norfolk and that was very important to us.

When it came to deciding on a dress, I thought I had a style in mind. Something bit floatier or A-Line, so my choice came as a bit of a surprise to me!

I only visited one shop in my hometown as I had heard lots of great reviews about the Tinkerbelle’s and the owner, so I was really excited to  I tried on several dresses and the one I chose was probably about the 5th or 6th one, called Jamie.

I loved the fit of the dress even before alteration! I felt very feminine and think it complimented my figure! I absolutely loved the femininity of the lace and sheer open back detail and the puddle train. It was gorgeous and really complemented my figure. I felt amazing in and so surprised as I didn’t think I would go for a fitting dress.

I loved shopping for my wedding dress! Special thanks must go to Pauline, who is the shop owner. She works there with her family, and they are all so helpful, friendly, and not to mention very talented!

The actual day was perfect. Everything ran so smoothly, and we only had a little hiccup with the timing. We were a few minutes behind here and there but not enough to be detrimental to any of the plans!

I couldn’t have asked for a better day. We loved the traditional elements of our service and the journey over to the barn from the church was very special to us because it was some time together straight after the ceremony to just be alone and let it sink in that we were now husband and wife. I think that will be a moment which I will never forget from the day.

For a little bit of extra fun, we decided to hire a Helter Skelter Bouncy Castle, for some light-hearted entertaining. It was a big hit with the kids and the adults!

Special thanks to our brilliant videographer Mike Reid Films! Also special thanks to Silverline Limousines for the car hire, Epic Event Hire, for their decorating, Fig and Roses for my beautiful flowers, Hair by Alice Rose and Eleanor Harnden Make Up Artistry! And of course, our talented photographer Arleen Bathgate
