Eilidh & Tom: Real Bride Story

Tom’s proposal was amazing; we were on holiday in Santorini when Tom got down on one knee. I immediately said yes. Later the same day we visited Venetsanos Winery on a wine tour and we knew we wanted to return to that exact spot on our big day. The rustic style was exactly what we were looking for, and not to mention the stunning views and delicious wine.

When I started looking at wedding dresses I initially knew what I didn’t want in my dress and after visiting the first bridal shop, my dress was the first dress I laid eyes on and I knew instantly after that, what I did want.

It just so happened my dress was delivered into the shop the same day I had my appointment, and it had been on the mannequin for all of 10 minutes before I saw it and knew it was right for me, the stylists were so excited to see it on a someone for the first time! The girls in the shop suggested I try a few other styles on first which I did.

I went for the Tea dress and bought it from Point Nouveau Bridal in Dunblane, Scotland. I always knew I wanted a really simple, elegant and timeless piece that I could look back on in 30 years’ time and think… yes, that still looks good! The Tea Dress fitted the brief beautifully; it is such a classy style and flattering fit, especially for someone as little as me _5’2!.

I styled my dress with a floor length, single tier veil – again simple and timeless; with a pair of Jimmy Choo Lance sandals, a classic diamond tennis bracelet my _then fiancé bought me as a gift and a Katie Loxton clutch bag my Chief Bridesmaid treated me to.

It’s important for me to give massive shout out to my Wedding Planner Flora from Unique _ Forever, as planning a wedding on a tiny island 2,000 miles away is not easy so her knowledge of local suppliers was invaluable. Our theme was rustic and natural tones, everything was very soft in colour pallette and we used a lot of natural materials and fabrics which was very in fitting with the venue itself.  In terms of budgeting, I was told some great advice that stuck with me, spend money on the things you, yourself remember from weddings you have been to as a guest, don’t waste your budget on things neither yourself or your guests will even take note of.

The best part of our wedding was standing back and watching 50 of our closest family and friends dancing and laughing half way across Europe, all together, for us.  We laughed from start to end, but the Best Man’s speech had to be the funniest!
