Daisy & Elliot: Real Bride Story

So, tell us, where was the venue?

Our venue was Long Furlong Barn in Worthing. Our venue really was fantastic as we were able to borrow so much décor! Our theme was quite rustic so we decorated with log slices, wooden lanterns, wooden crates and card boxes!

How did you personalise your day?

We got married in a beautiful converted barn so we wanted to keep our wedding decor in keeping with the venues rustic vibe and earthy tones. We had white paper lanterns hung from the ceiling and had extra fairy lights strung for a little more sparkle!

One of my favourite things that personalised our day was our table plan. My husband _eek I can say that now! is a tattoo artist but also a falconer, we named each table after a bird of prey and he drew each bird for each table sign.

That sounds amazing! What was the most important thing for you to have at your wedding?

We were super keen to have a live band at our wedding! We had decided this long before we even got engaged that we would have The Normans! We just love the atmosphere and energy you get from a live band and we were still dancing with our guests until the end of the night!

Now on to the dress; did you have any idea of what style or shape of dress you were looking for?

I was very open to trying on all styles of dress, I had never tried on a wedding dress prior to searching for what would be mine! Before I found my wedding dress I had always envisaged that I would have long lace sleeves and it would most likely be A- line. I always knew for sure I’d have a veil!

Did you try a lot of dresses on before you found the ONE?

I must have tired on 35-40 wedding dresses in total, across 3 different wedding dress shops. I had tried on my dress one time before with my mum and auntie and could not stop thinking about it or looking back at the photographs of it! So I then had to go back and take my bridesmaids along with me!

So in the end what dress did you end up choosing?

I chose the Lexey dress from the Victoria Jane collection. It was an A line gown with material that was called special satin, it had a subtle sparkle with criss-cross style beading with a beaded belt! It was completely different to anything I thought I would go for!  I’m so glad I tried it on because it was perfect!! I loved it! I didn’t want to take it off! I don’t think it was at all what my guests were expecting I’d choose! Also, it had pockets... POCKETS!!!

We love gowns with pockets! Finally, any tips for future brides?

Try on lots of styles of dresses even ones you don’t think you’ll like, you never know you might love it! Be sure to do your research and get a great seamstress if you need one!
