We got married at The Church of St Mary the Virgin Harby Leicestershire and the reception was held at The Chequers Inn Woolsthorpe by Belvoir. The reception venue was absolutely perfect for what we wanted. It’s a lovely country pub with a large space at the back which was perfect for a big family wedding!
How did you first meet?
We met at work and we now work for ourselves running a property development company and an architectural practice together.
Did you have a dream gown in mind?
I always knew I wanted a satin dress in an Ivory colour. I think this is because when my Mum and Dad got married my Mum wore an ivory satin dress and I think subconsciously I have always imagined myself in the “modern version”.
Tell us how you found your dream gown!
I went to a couple of dress shops and tried on around 10 dresses. I actually loved a lot of different styles but didn’t quite find what I was looking for until I went to Bride and Co a local bridal boutique
I finally picked the Victoria Jane Idony dress by Ronald Joyce _style 18314. I absolutely loved how simple it was as it is satin with no lace or other details except satin buttons down the back. Even though it was simple it had a very glamorous royal feel to it that made it feel classy and special. I thought it would be perfect for a church wedding and another bonus was I knew it would feel comfortable after a three course meal!
How did you accessorize?
I really wanted to compliment it with some jewellery. I went for a Swarovski necklace and earrings. I didn’t wear a veil as I thought the jewellery and dress worked well on their own. My hair dresser Rosie completed my look for me with some Hollywood curls!
How did you find preparing for the big day?
I have to say I found the wedding planning extremely straight forward! I didn’t have a detailed vision of my perfect day I just simply had a family celebration in mind with lots of laughter dancing and food! We certainly achieved that!
Any funny moments from the big day?
One of the funniest moments was walking to the church with my bridesmaids and Dad. My sister who was my maid of honour organised matching pink wellies and we all hoisted up our dresses and walked to the church. It was about a 5 minute walk and I think we laughed out loud every step of the way and we got a few laughs from the fellow villagers!
