It all started when I met Chris in Durham in January 2020, just before covid hit the world. Our relationship began during lock down which was a little hard with all the restrictions. We tried to make the most of our freedom going on dates and spending time together in between lock downs. It was kind of exciting getting to know each other over video calls and virtual dates. Chris then proposed with the most perfect and beautiful ring at his home, and of course I had to say yes!
We decided that we wanted to plan the wedding ourself and we definitely had a vison in mind. We wanted an all-white theme to our wedding, which look so amazing on the day. We decided that we wanted to get married at Ramside Hall Durham.
For our ceremony we wanted a non-traditional style wedding in a beautiful marquee, big enough to fit all of our friends and family. We also wanted gardens space and a smaller tent for the children to play in and have their own area to just be kids.
When is came to buying my dress, I really couldn’t decide at the time, so I ended up buying 4 dresses but decided on the most perfect princess style dress for the big day. I was a Victoria Jane dress called Veronica
I knew as soon as I tried it on that I was going to get married in this dress. The subtle peach tulle layers on the skirt and the lace on the bodice, made the dress look like it was picked from a fairy-tale. I felt amazing in it and loved the sheer straps detail and fit and feel of the dress. I also loved how the dress flowed behind me as I walked down the aisle. I knew everyone would expect me to wear white, so this surprised everyone with the hint of champagne/peach tones, which was a lovely contact to our all-white theme.
The day was perfect and Ramside hall staff surprised me with a Bentley car to drive me to the marquee! I felt like a real-life celebrity.
One of my favourite parts of the wedding was seeing my husband cry as I walked towards him down the aisle. He always said that he wouldn’t cry but he was caught in the moment. I was also so proud of our sons who walked in ahead of me I front of over 100 faces.
I would also have to recommend our amazing celebrant called love jo. She was amazing and really made our day special by telling our love story to our audience. She made us laugh and cry and got the crown ready to celebrate after our ceremony.
I would have to say, after having the most memorable and fanatics wedding my little piece of advice, I would have to put yourself first and don’t be afraid to ask for exactly what you want. Every detail on your wedding day is so important so put yourself first on this occasion. Don’t worry about pleasing anyone else because it’s your special day that only happens once and it goes so fast after all the build-up and planning. Relax and enjoy it knowing that you have everything perfect that you wanted and wished for.
